PLANT SUPERINTENDENT
Qulliq Energy Corporation

Reporting to the Area Operations & Maintenance Supervisor, the Plant Superintendent
will be responsible for the maintenance of safe, continuous power generation
and distribution within the community.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Integration of production and maintenance requirements of all mechanical
and electrical equipment
- Operate and monitor the diesel power house and associated systems to ensure
the provision of safe, reliable electrical service to customers
- Manage plant inventories including shipping, receiving and monitoring
- Process customer orders for new service, disconnections and changes of
ownership.
- Install new service drops, gather meter data, accept payments, initiate
collection procedures and issue documentation to area accounts department
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with community and local
business representatives and respond to customer inquiries
- Perform duties in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety and
WHMIS legislation
- Perform preventive maintenance or emergency repairs, as required
- Directs the activities of subordinate staff and casuals
- Prepare and submit information to Supervisor for preparation of budget,
variances and other performance measures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Administrative responsibilities such as month-end reports, trip reports,
inventories, incident reports and work plans
Required Qualifications include:
- Graduate of Grade 12
- Journeyman certificate in the electrical/mechanical trades or equivalent
experience
- Valid Class 5 Nunavut Drivers License
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Advanced computer skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member
Desirable Skills and Experience include:
- First Aid Certification
- Experience working in remote/isolated northern/aboriginal communities
Preference will be given to beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims
Agreement.
Salary starts at $65,081.00 per annum. We offer a comprehensive benefits
package including location allowance of $17,336.00 per annum.
Qulliq Energy Corporation generates electricity under the trade name of Nunavut
Power, and is responsible for meeting the electricity needs of the citizens
of Nunavut. The Corporation develops energy options through the Nunavut Energy
Centre, addressing electrical supply and energy issues for all Nunavummiut.
The Corporation is headquartered in Baker Lake and has an Executive Office
in Iqaluit.
